November 16, 2019 to January 7, 2020 at the Anita B. Gorman Conservation Discovery Center in Kansas City, MO

The traveling exhibition Through Darkness to Light will be on view at the Anita B. Gorman Conservation Discovery Center. There will be a special family-friendly event during the opening on November 16, 2019. Since the Gorman Discovery Center is part of Missouri’s forest, fish and wildlife agency, the event will focus on the natural resources needed and utilized along the Underground Railroad. And it will include the outdoor skills needed by soldiers, slaves and freemen to survive during the Civil War era, including talks on medicinal native plants, navigating using nature, cooking, first-person interpretation depicting the struggle along the Underground Railroad, along with talks from local Buffalo Soldiers.

The Gorman Discovery Center hours are Tuesday - Friday 8am to 5pm and open until 7pm on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month. Saturday hours are 9am to 4pm. The Center is closed on Sundays and Mondays.
